Authorities in the state of Arizona are continuing their
investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of television
host Savannah Guthrie, who was last seen over the weekend at her home in
Tucson. Although the case has garnered increasing public attention, local
officials offered few additional details on the progress of the investigation
on Wednesday.
According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, the
84-year-old was last seen around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday inside her home. Since
then, there has been no contact with her, and it remains unclear what happened
after that time, intensifying the concern of family members and authorities.
Sheriff Chris Nanos stated on Monday that the evidence
gathered points to a possible crime, affirming that “we do indeed have a
crime.” However, he avoided providing specific information about the
circumstances of the disappearance or about possible suspects, citing the
sensitive nature of the investigation.
While details have not been officially confirmed,
authorities are considering abduction as one of their primary lines of inquiry.
Search teams and specialized personnel continue to comb the area and gather
witness statements to reconstruct the events.
The case has garnered attention both locally and nationally
due to the family connection to the well-known television personality, while
the community awaits news that will help clarify Nancy Guthrie's whereabouts.
