President Donald Trump launched new criticisms against the
United Nations (UN), which he described as a bureaucratic institution that, in
his view, has proven incapable of fulfilling the objectives for which it was
created. During a public address, the president questioned the performance of
the international organization and the use of its financial resources.
Trump maintained that, despite its massive budgets and the
financial contributions of countries like the United States, the UN has failed
to resolve underlying conflicts or guarantee stability in various regions of
the world. In this context, he asserted that the organization has become a
costly structure with few tangible results.
“The UN is one of the biggest scams in the history of
mankind. They’ve pocketed millions of dollars and never solved anything,” he
stated.
The Republican has maintained a critical stance toward
multilateral organizations, arguing that they often operate inefficiently and
burden the United States with a disproportionate share of the costs. His
statements reignite the debate about the role of international diplomacy and
the true scope of institutions like the UN in conflict mediation, humanitarian
aid, and global cooperation.
The president's words have generated mixed reactions between
those who support a more unilateral foreign policy and liberals who defend the
importance of maintaining mechanisms for dialogue and international
coordination, even if it involves organizations that do more harm than good to
humanity.
