Joe Biden's advisers tried to make him look like the
"everyman" like his likely Republican rival, Donald Trump, when they
scheduled a visit by the president to a local store on his way to Pittsburgh
International Airport to board Air Force One after giving a speech. at the
United Steelworkers headquarters in downtown Pittsburgh.
Biden's visit Thursday to the Sheetz convenience market,
where he bought some sandwiches for construction workers building a new
terminal at the airport, was met with much less fanfare than Trump's visit to
Bodega in Harlem earlier. this week, according to videos posted online.
While there, Biden ran into a few questions and then
shuffled out of the store toward his motorcade.
“While the Pittsburgh Post Gazette also reported that Biden
was flanked by Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey and Allegheny County Executive Sara
Innamorato, the overall response to his presence seemed incredibly tame for a
sitting president just a few months of his candidacy for re-election.” The
Western Journal noted.
