Representative warns about immigration and links arrival of radical Islam to national security risks

 

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) probably raised eyebrows when he was heard praising left-leaning CNN anchor Jake Tapper for being “fair” after an interview Wednesday.

During his appearance on CNN, Johnson highlighted his foreign aid package, recently endorsed by President Joe Biden, which aims to allocate tens of billions in US taxpayer aid to Ukraine. This marks a shift for Johnson, who had previously opposed such funding but has since made support for Ukraine a priority following a reversal in March.

Johnson joined Tapper remotely from outside the House chamber at the Capitol, with a small group of reporters present. During the interview, he mentioned his long-standing relationship with Tapper, a well-known left-wing supporter prone to spreading false claims.

“You're always fair,” Johnson said into a microphone during one exchange, Breitbart News reported, going on to list dozens of cases in which Tapper's reporting, primarily about Republicans and former President Donald Trump, was inaccurate or outright false.
