House Democrats took another extraordinary step Friday to
stop blocking House Speaker Mike Johnson's foreign aid package.
Such bipartisanship in procedural votes that normally follow
party lines is becoming more common as Republicans fight against a razor-thin
majority and a rebellious right flank.
Along with 151 Republicans, 165 Democrats voted to approve a
“rule,” a procedural document that sets the parameters for legislative
discussion and voting.
“Bipartisanship was necessary after 55 mostly hardline
Republicans, outraged by the $61 billion in aid to Ukraine included in the
package, voted 'no.' The vote sets the stage for the bill to pass early
Saturday afternoon,” Axios reported. /Cbrief
