A federal magistrate will not stop the suspension of the
right to carry firearms in certain New Mexico parks and playgrounds.
A federal magistrate on Wednesday cleared the way for
enforcement of a public health order suspending the right to carry firearms in
public parks and playgrounds in New Mexico's largest metropolitan area.
U.S. District Judge David Urías' order denies a request by
gun rights advocates to halt temporary restrictions on firearms pending the
outcome of legal challenges.
It's a victory for Gov. Michelle Luján Grisham and her
advocacy for temporary gun restrictions in response to recent shootings that
killed minors across the state.Politicbrief
