Amid the riots in Minneapolis, a group of rioters broke into
a vehicle belonging to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stealing both
weapons and highly sensitive documents. The attack occurred when protesters
took advantage of the chaos to vandalize the vehicle and open one of its
lockers.
Among the stolen items were not only weapons, but also files
and records containing confidential information from federal agents. According
to initial reports, the documents included the identities of FBI agents, phone
numbers, email addresses, judges' names, maps of operational locations,
information about hotels where agents are staying, and details about
immigration detention centers.
The leak of this type of information poses a serious risk to
the safety of officials and ongoing operations, as it exposes both agents and
other authorities to potential reprisals or attacks. Furthermore, it highlights
weaknesses in security protocols during situations of high social tension.
Federal authorities have already launched an investigation
to determine the extent of the theft, locate the stolen documents, and
establish responsibility for the breach of this strategic material.
