The United States set another record for the number of air
travelers since the coronavirus pandemic began, although the number of
passengers remains well below 2019 levels.
Nearly 1.67 million people passed through US airport
checkpoints on Sunday, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
That was the highest number since March 12 of last year, when air travel began
to plummet. However, the figure is 35% lower when compared to the same Sunday
in 2019.
Even as government restrictions due to the coronavirus are
also drastically limiting international travel, another lucrative piece for
airlines.
