The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security
(DHS), Kristi Noem, reported that the woman confronted today by Immigration and
Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents was not only repeatedly interfering with an
official operation, but also attempted to run over one of the agents with her
vehicle, an act she described as attempted murder and an act of domestic
terrorism.
According to Noem's statements, the woman had been harassing
and obstructing the work of the federal agents for some time before the
situation escalated. “The agents repeatedly ordered her to get out of the car
and stop obstructing the operation. Instead of complying, she used her vehicle
as a weapon and attempted to run over an agent,” the official explained.
The secretary emphasized that this type of behavior poses a
direct threat not only to law enforcement personnel but also to the safety of
anyone in the area. She stated that the deliberate use of a vehicle with the
intent to cause serious injury or death is an extremely serious act that must
be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The incident has reignited the debate about the risks faced
by federal agents during immigration and security operations, especially in a
context of growing political and social tension surrounding immigration
policies. Noem warned that obstructing law enforcement and resorting to
violence is not only illegal but can also have fatal consequences.
Although authorities have not immediately released the
woman's identity or the specific charges she will face, the DHS made it clear
that the case will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The official
emphasized that this is a clear example of how misinformation and
radicalization can lead to violent acts against public servants.
The federal government reiterated its continued support for
ICE agents and other law enforcement agencies in carrying out their duties,
while urging the public to channel any disagreements through legal and peaceful
means, and not through confrontation or violence.
