Prominent MIT Scientist Murdered in Boston; No Arrests Yet

  


A renowned academic from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was shot and killed at his home in Boston, authorities and the university reported. So far, no arrests have been made and no suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

The victim was Nuno Loureiro, a nuclear scientist with extensive international experience. MIT confirmed that Loureiro was a professor in the Departments of Nuclear Science and Engineering and Physics, and that he also served as director of the Center for Plasma and Fusion Science, one of the institution's strategic research areas.

The university deeply regretted his death and highlighted his academic and scientific work, emphasizing the impact of his research on advancing the study of plasma and fusion energy. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the attack or possible motives, while the investigation into the crime continues.
