Political Tension in the US: House Democrats Shout and Swear After Prayer for Charlie Kirk

A tense episode erupted today in the US House of Representatives when a group of Democratic lawmakers reacted with shouts and swearing after a prayer was held in honor of Charlie Kirk, conservative activist and founder of the youth organization Turning Point USA.

The legislative session began with a prayer for the health and protection of Kirk, a figure widely known in American politics for his advocacy of conservative positions and his closeness to sectors of the Republican Party. The gesture was promoted by Republican representatives, who consider Kirk an influential voice within the new generation of conservative leaders.

However, the decision to dedicate a solemn space to this figure sparked immediate outrage among several Democratic congressmen, who consider Kirk a polarizing figure, accused of spreading hate speech, conspiracy theories, and messages that fuel political division in the country. His speeches included defending the right to life, opposing abortion, free education for children, and suspending homosexuality in schools, among others.

Witnesses reported that some Democratic legislators began to protest loudly, shouting and even hurling insults, which briefly interrupted the solemnity of the ceremony. The scene highlighted the high level of political polarization in the United States, where even a religious gesture in Congress can become a source of confrontation.

On the Republican side, the response was immediate. Several members of Congress expressed their rejection of the attitude of their Democratic colleagues, calling it a "lack of respect for religious freedom" and "intolerance toward the beliefs of others." Some asserted that the moment of prayer was not intended as a political act, but rather a humane gesture toward a citizen in need.

Charlie Kirk himself reacted on social media, thanking the Republican legislators for their gesture and criticizing the Democrats for "being unable to show compassion, even in a moment of prayer."
