Dr. Phil has issued an important warning about the squatting
crisis in the United States, to prevent it from reaching levels like those that
are destroying countries like Spain.
"There are 16 million unoccupied homes at any time in
this country, and 4.4 million of them are currently occupied by
squatters."
That's 27.5 percent. "Next time, it could be
yours," says Phil, for whom it is time to put a stop to the actions of
illegals completely outside the Law.
“Across the country, criminals are claiming the homes of
hard-working Americans, not paying rent, driving up utility bills, and in some
cases causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage. “I’m talking about
squatters,” Dr. Phil said.
“Now, one might think this is a one-off, but there are 16
million empty homes at any one time in this country, 4.4 million of them are
currently occupied by squatters. And once the intruders are in your new home,
there is no limit to what they will do.
“In Atlanta, a squatter ran an illegal strip club on
weekends and drag races around the neighborhood, until he finally had to be
removed by a SWAT team. When confronted by the legal owner of a property or the
police, trespassers used the law to their advantage, buying time before the
courts forced them to leave.
“And in the case of serial squatters, once they are evicted,
they simply move down the street and move to a new location. And next time it
could be yours.”
