Javier Milei, almost certainly the next president of
Argentina, according to popular opinion, has reacted to the desperate action of
the official presidential candidate, Sergio Tomás Massa, who will now raffle
off motorcycles, appliances and cars, to try to attract votes.
"What you see is an enormous level of desperation, and
it is also from my point of view, that I may be wrong, it is underestimating
people. It is believing that they may be buying them for coins and I believe
that people are waking up little by little."
The "Platita" plan announced by Massa is "Buy
without VAT", to encourage buying and selling. To enter the raffle, the
Argentine will have to make their purchases with their credit card.
The announcement of the plan, which will cost 3 billion
pesos, was made by Massa in La Rioja, where, by the way, he was rebuked by a
citizen who complained about the terrible retirement conditions that have been
imposed in the country.
Milei reacted by assuring that Argentines are no longer
satisfied with having three crumbs thrown at them and explained: "The
other side of this is nothing more than fiscal deficit."
