Six NGOs leave Ortega government without permits in Nicaragua

MANAGUA - The Nicaraguan regime canceled the legal registration of six cooperation organizations from the United States and Europe that financed civil society projects, including the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI), according to a published decree on Monday in the official newspaper La Gaceta.

The provision taken by the Ministry of the Interior (Interior) also affects the OXFAM Intermón foundations in Spain; OXFAM Ibis, from Denmark; DIAKONIA, from Sweden, and the American foundation Helping Hands The Warren William Pagel, stated La Gaceta.

The resolution indicated that in their actions, the six organizations obstructed "the control and vigilance" of the Ministry of the Interior in the regulation of non-profit organizations that operate in Nicaragua.
