Border closures with Haiti begin

The Dominican Republic closed its border with Haiti on Wednesday after the assassination of that country's president, Jovenel Moise, a military source informed Efe.

In a determination that is said to seek to prevent those responsible for the murder of Moise from deciding to cross the borders of Haiti, the Dominican Republic has decided to avoid the passage into its territory.

President Luis Abinader ordered the closure of the four border crossings with Haiti and ordered the reinforcement of surveillance in the area, according to a head of the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (Cesfront).
