MIAMI.- The Coast Guard and the crew of a cargo ship rescued
13 Cuban migrants on the high seas after their boat capsized off Key West as
Tropical Storm Elsa approached the area, according to authorities.
The nine men and four women were brought aboard the Coast
Guard vessel Thetis Tuesday afternoon, about 26 miles southeast of Key West,
according to the Coast Guard Corps.
The survivors told the crew of the Coast Guard boat that
they had left in a small boat from Cuba, around 8 p.m. last Monday.
They said seven men and two women were missing at sea, but
authorities did not release further details.
