The Cantabrian municipality of Potes has been chosen as the
new Capital of Rural Tourism 2020 after having received 25.9% of the votes in
this fourth edition of the contest promoted by the reservation portal
EscapadaRural.com. It has received 24,499 votes from a total of 95,545
participants, a more remarkable success even if one takes into account that
48,836 people participated in the previous edition, almost half that of this
year.
Potes has achieved this position after being selected from
among the 205 localities of 15 autonomous communities that submitted their
candidacy to obtain this recognition.
"Located at the epicenter of the Lebaniega region,
Potes is characterized by the spectacular landscape that surrounds it, as it is
located at the confluence of the four valleys of the Cantabrian region. It is
known as the town of bridges and towers, among which the Infantado and the
Orejón de la Lama stand out ”, have highlighted the organizers, who have also
highlighted its gastronomy.
For the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and
Tourism of Cantabria, Marina Lombó, “it is an enormous joy that Potes becomes
Capital of Rural Tourism 2020, especially since the people who have visited and
know it have decided it, and in addition, it has been chosen in front of other
nine finalist candidates with a lot of level ”, they have collected in the
note.
