The Peru´s government
expects air and ground passenger transport to resume at the local level from
mid-July after the suspension of services in March due to the coronavirus,
transport and communications minister Carlos Lozada said.
The official affirmed that his team, together with
authorities from the Ministry of Health, is preparing biosafety protocols to
allow the resumption of these activities, while the country began lifting one
of the longest quarantines in the world this week.
“We have had hard work with operators and airlines. We have
the protocols practically closed and effectively there will not be a
restriction on the capacity, all have already implemented their filter
mechanisms, what we have used are international protocols, "Lozada said Wednesday
night to the local television channel ATV.
The flights will not include seven regions - out of the 25
in Peru - that will still remain in quarantine because their contagion levels
remain high, including Arequipa, the second most populated in the South
American country.
