Following the remarks made by Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum during
her morning press conference this Friday, businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego,
president of Grupo Salinas, made public his position regarding the tax dispute
he has with the federal government. In his statement, he emphasized that his
primary interest is to end the controversy through institutional channels, with
strict adherence to the legal framework and without escalating the conflict.
In a message posted on his social media account, Salinas
Pliego maintained that his business group's objective has never been to
confront the authorities, but rather to obtain legal certainty and clear rules
that allow for a definitive resolution of the existing differences with the tax
authorities. In this context, he stressed that there has always been a
willingness to engage in dialogue and find a solution in accordance with the
law, as well as to comply with all legally applicable tax obligations.
The businessman emphasized that the dispute should not be
interpreted as a refusal to pay taxes, but rather as a legal disagreement over
specific tax criteria that, in his opinion, should be resolved within the
legally established channels and procedures.
For its part, Grupo Salinas highlighted that, during the
period of the dispute with the Tax Administration Service (SAT), it has paid
more than 285 billion pesos to the public treasury. The company asserted that
this figure reflects a sustained commitment to tax compliance and the
responsibilities inherent in its economic activity in the country, while
reiterating its intention to close this chapter definitively and transparently.
