The AI-powered smart glasses, presented by Meta CEO Mark
Zuckerberg as "the next generation of Ray-Ban glasses from Meta,"
were the center of attention during his keynote address at the company's annual
conference. However, the launch was marred by a series of glitches during live
demonstrations, generating mixed reactions from the audience and technology
analysts.
The device, which combines voice assistance, real-time
recording, and light augmented reality features, aims to position itself as a
direct competitor in the emerging wearable computing market. However, glitches
during the unveiling—including delayed responses from the AI and difficulty
recognizing basic commands—called into question the product's readiness for
mass launch.
Zuckerberg insisted that this is a significant step forward
in Meta's commitment to the metaverse and the integration of artificial
intelligence into everyday life, assuring that technical issues are part of the
development phase and will be addressed before it hits the market. Still, the
demonstration left a bittersweet taste in the mouth and fueled skepticism about
the viability of the company's futuristic vision.
