Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and National Security
Advisor Stephen Miller lashed out this week at Democrats, accusing them of
spreading misleading accounts about President Donald Trump's health.
In an interview Wednesday night with Sean Hannity on Fox
News, Miller vehemently defended the president's public image. He said Trump
has demonstrated an unprecedented willingness to engage with the media and open
himself up to the public. "President Trump has offered more press
conferences, more interviews, more transparency, more direct access to the
American people. He's spent countless hours in front of the press. He's even
livestreamed Cabinet meetings that extend up to four hours!" the advisor emphasized.
Miller's statements are part of a broader White House
strategy to counter criticism and speculation about the president's health and
fitness. In recent months, Democratic opponents have repeatedly questioned his
physical and mental stamina, sparking a constant debate in the political and
media arenas.
Miller's combative tone reflects the importance the
administration places on neutralizing any doubts about Trump's image,
especially in a context where the perception of personal strength is becoming a
key political asset. For the White House, portraying an active president,
willing to interact with journalists and submit to public scrutiny, is a way to
directly refute accusations of opacity or weakness.
Beyond the statements, the exchange with Hannity also
illustrates the close relationship between the Trump administration and some
conservative media outlets, which have become key platforms for reinforcing the
official message and responding to criticism from the opposition.
