A spokesperson for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
reported that three people were shot Wednesday morning at an agency facility in
Dallas, Texas. The incident prompted a rapid mobilization of police and
emergency services to the area.
During a press conference, local police confirmed that two
people, including the alleged attacker, died as a result of gunshot wounds.
According to authorities, the shooter took his own life after the incident,
which ended the security operation at the site.
The shots did not hit any ICE agents, although the situation
caused alarm among the office's staff and nearby communities. The three injured
people were taken to local hospitals, and the severity of their injuries has
not yet been reported.
The motive for the attack is still under investigation.
Authorities said they are working to identify the assailant and determine if
there were any prior ties to the agency or the victims.
The incident occurs amid a polarized political climate
surrounding ICE's role in enforcing immigration laws in the United States,
which could give greater national resonance to the events in Dallas.
