Two weeks after the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reappeared on television with statements that generated strong reactions. In a prime-time interview, Clinton targeted “white Christian men” by blaming them for many of the world's problems.
“The idea that you can go back in time and try to recreate a
world that never existed… dominated by, let's say, white men of a certain
persuasion, a certain religion, a certain point of view, a certain ideology, is
doing enormous damage to what we should aspire to,” the former Democratic
presidential candidate stated.
Clinton's remarks were interpreted by conservative sectors
as a direct attack on the base of the political movement that Kirk represented,
intensifying the polarization surrounding her following her assassination.
Republican leaders harshly criticized the former Secretary of State, accusing
her of inciting resentment and exploiting a tragedy to advance her ideological
agenda.
The incident once again places Clinton at the center of the
American political debate, in a context already marked by partisan tensions and
the impact of Charlie Kirk's death on the conservative scene.
