A growing number of Republicans have called for Rep. Jamaal
Bowman (D-N.Y.) to be prosecuted under the same statutes that President Joe
Biden's Justice Department is using to prosecute hundreds of Jan. 6 protesters
who entered the Capitol building. United States Capitol on January 6. 2021.
The calls come after Bowman admitted to setting off a fire
alarm in the Cannon office building, which Republicans say was done to obstruct
a critical government funding bill that the Republican majority was set to
pass.
“Congressman Bowman did not realize he would set off the
building alarm while rushing to an urgent vote,” a representative for Bowman
said in a statement, The Western Journal reported. "The congressman
regrets any confusion."CBrief
