Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin pardoned a Loudoun County
father whose outburst over his daughter being sexually assaulted by a
"transgender" student led to him being criminally charged by the
state.
Youngkin issued a statement along with his executive order
pardoning the father, Scott Smith.
“Scott Smith is a dedicated father who has faced unjustified
charges in his attempt to protect his daughter.
Scott’s commitment to his son despite immense obstacles is
emblematic of the parent empowerment movement that began in Virginia,” said
Governor Youngkin.
“In Virginia, parents matter and my determination to empower
them is unwavering. “The fundamental right of parents to participate in the
education, upbringing and care of their children must never be undermined by
bureaucracy, school divisions or the State,” Youngkin added. “I am pleased to
grant this forgiveness to Scott Smith and help him and his family put this
injustice behind them once and for all.”
