As Florida Governor Ron DeSantis continues to lose ground to
former President Donald Trump in the race for the 2024 Republican presidential
nomination, he has now agreed to debate a Democrat who is not even running for
the White House, leaving several political pundits scratching their heads.
DeSantis will debate California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) in a
90-minute town hall hosted by Fox News in November, NBC News reported Tuesday.
In a statement, Fox said the debate will air during legacy
host Sean Hannity's time slot from a yet-undisclosed location in Georgia.
“I look forward to the opportunity to debate with Gavin
Newsom about our very different visions for the future of our country,”
DeSantis wrote on Platform X.
“Contrasting California's failures with Florida's success
proves Ron DeSantis right: decline is simply a choice,” said DeSantis campaign
spokesman Andrew Romeo.CBrief
