The program that guaranteed the rapid and safe evacuation of
Americans in distress abroad was halted by the Biden administration 2 months
before the disaster in Afghanistan.
This State Department program had been created last year
under then-President Donald Trump, and the memorandum confirming its removal
was signed by Under Secretary of State Brian McKeon on June 11, according to
The National Pulse on August 18. .
The official document from Secretary of State Antony
Blinken's office that eliminated funding from the program recommends the
following.
"That you order the discontinuation of the establishment,
and the termination, of the Office of Contingency and Crisis Response (CCR),
and order a new review of certain requirements and capabilities of the
associated Department."
