Venezuela backs down in fight against human trafficking: US

MIAMI.- The annual report of the United States Department of State assures that Venezuela is backing down in the fight against human trafficking or any form of modern slavery.

"The government of Venezuela does not meet the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking and is not making any effort," says the report in the chapter dedicated to Venezuela.

In addition, the irregular armed groups that operate in Venezuela are the great promoters of practices such as sex trafficking, recruitment of child combatants and forced labor in sectors such as agriculture, domestic services and construction, according to the report reviewed by Voice of America.
