Lawmakers are questioning Biden's Cuba-related policies on the doorstep

MIAMI.- Two of South Florida's most influential Republican lawmakers strongly questioned the announcement that President Joe Biden ordered the creation of a task force to assess an increase in staffing at the U.S. embassy in Havana and its proposal to review the policy for sending remittances to Cuba.

In a communication sent to DIARIO LAS AMÉRICAS, Senator Marco Rubio wrote: "Whoever advises President Biden to send diplomats to Cuba and review remittances to the island should be fired"

He added: "It is inconceivable that the Biden administration chooses to prioritize these measures, whose sole objective will be to help the repressive and communist regime on the island."

Also, on his Twitter account, the Cuban-American legislator wrote: "President Biden, listen to the people inside Cuba, not to the pro-regime people in your administration."
