US used homes on the decline

Sales of used homes fell in May for the fourth consecutive month in the United States due to a lack of available properties combined with record prices, the National Federation of Realtors (NAR) announced on Tuesday.

The number of used homes sold fell 0.9% to 5.80 million in annual projection (the amount projected per year if the conditions of the period considered were maintained).

The figure is slightly better than expected by analysts, who estimated sales of 5.71 million units in annual projection.

The average price of a used home continued to rise, with a jump of 23.6% in May 2021 over May 2020, to $ 350,300, the Federation detailed in a statement.
