In an
interview on Friday with TV Criticia, offered from the Amazon city of Manaus,
Bolsonaro reiterated his frequent criticisms of restrictions imposed by local
governments to fight infections, measures that he says do more harm than good.
"This
policy of confinement, of quarantine, is absurd ... we have a plan of how to
act. I am the supreme commander of the armed forces ”, he warned.
He said that
he could deploy the army to "restore article 5 of the Constitution,"
which mentions the right to freedom of movement and religion.
Bolsonaro
also said that the restrictions are exacerbating hunger in the country.
"I,
along with my 23 ministers, am talking about what to do if there is widespread
chaos in Brazil due to hunger, due to the cowardly way some are keeping people
at home," he added.
