The Greek island of Leúcade, in the Ionian, combines
electric blue waters, green-washed mountains and some of the country's most
famous beaches. This year, with only one registered case of coronavirus so far,
he sees his landscapes, hotels and restaurants practically empty.
Porto Katsiki, one of the main attractions of the island
that is usually found on the lists of the best beaches in Europe, shows an
unusual image these days. Its dramatic white cliffs, usually complemented by
hundreds of umbrellas of all colors, provide shelter for just dozens of people
who sunbathe and a ship that calls.
Léucade or Lefkada in Greek (a name that could come
precisely from the whiteness of its untamed cliffs) is one of the most
accessible islands in the country, as it is connected to the Acarnania coast by
a floating bridge and can be reached by car, without need for ferries or
planes.
Due to its mountains, the center of the island is occupied
by villages, small towns and monasteries and it is the coasts that are home to
the most important populations.EFE/TRAVEL FILMS
