China to increase international flights if virus is under control

China's aviation authority will consider increasing international flights as long as the risks of importing coronavirus cases are under control, the state-run China News reported Wednesday, citing the agency's deputy director Li Jian.

The maximum number of currently authorized international flights is 134 a week, under restrictions imposed on March 29 to prevent cases of the new coronavirus from being imported.

The figure, however, would be increased to 407 a week starting June 1, Li from the China Civil Aviation Administration said. (Reuters)
