The chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability
Committee, James Comer (R-Kentucky), indicated he is prepared to issue a
subpoena to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as part of his panel's investigation
into alleged massive fraud in the distribution of state aid funds.
According to the allegations being examined by the
committee, hundreds of millions of dollars in public assistance were funneled
through nonprofit organizations to Somali immigrants and other beneficiaries in
a scheme that, if confirmed, would reveal serious failures in state oversight.
Comer's statements come amid mounting political pressure on
the Minnesota administration, as criticism mounts regarding the management and
oversight of its assistance programs. Republican lawmakers have intensified
their calls for a more thorough federal review, as reported by Just the News.
