Senator Rose criticizes Pritzker for prioritizing spending on migrants over support for the disabled

Illinois – State Senator Chapin Rose lashed out at Governor J.B. Pritzker after signing the largest budget in Illinois history, accusing him of allocating millions of dollars to migrant care programs instead of strengthening assistance for people with developmental disabilities.

According to Rose, the budget package includes more than $40 million for migrant shelters and hundreds of millions in associated medical expenses, while at the same time cutting hours of direct care for people with disabilities.

“We're talking about basic services like food, bathing, and daily care, which will now be limited for thousands of families,” said the Republican legislator, who also noted that Pritzker failed to deliver on the property tax reduction he had promised.

The senator warned that this distribution of resources reflects neglect toward one of the state's most vulnerable populations. "It is unacceptable that those who need support most are the ones who pay the price for misguided political decisions," he concluded.
