Less than two weeks after the murder of its co-founder
Charlie Kirk, the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA (TPUSA)
announced it will resume public activities with an event at the University of
Minnesota as part of its national "The American Comeback Tour."
According to Minneapolis-based KMSP-TV, the event, scheduled
for Monday night, has already sold out, reflecting the interest generated both
by the group's political relevance and the expectation of paying tribute to the
memory of Kirk, a key figure in consolidating the conservative movement among
college students.
Commentator and speaker Michael Knowles, one of the featured
guests, stated that the event will not only be a space for political
discussion, but also a tribute to Kirk's legacy, describing him as a leader who
managed to mobilize thousands of young people around conservative values and
the defense of freedom of expression on campus.
The organization, which in the last decade has become an
influential player within American conservatism, now faces the challenge of
maintaining its momentum without the presence of one of its most visible
founders. TPUSA spokespersons indicated that the decision to maintain the
calendar of activities responds both to the desire to honor Kirk and to the
conviction that "the movement cannot be stopped by adversity."
The event in Minnesota will be the first major test for the
group after the loss of its leader and could set the course for its next steps
in the US political and student arena.
