Washington, D.C. – President Donald Trump addressed the
impending federal government shutdown scheduled for tonight, attributing the
crisis to the Democrats' stance on immigration.
According to Trump, the opposition party is insisting on
including a top-tier health coverage plan for undocumented immigrants in the
budget, which, in his view, encourages more people to enter the country
illegally.
“We're probably going to have a shutdown because one of the
things the Democrats want to do is give illegal immigrants an incredible
Medicare, a Medicare Cadillac. And that keeps them coming to our country... No
country can afford that... We can't allow that to happen,” the former president
declared.
Trump's remarks add to a highly confrontational atmosphere
in Congress, where disagreement over federal funding threatens to paralyze
services and leave millions of public employees without pay while the
administrative gridlock lasts.
