Washington – New reports indicate that during former
President Joe Biden's administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
conducted a massive investigation dubbed "Arctic Frost," which
included surveillance and inquiries into various conservative groups and
organizations, including Turning Point USA, founded by the recently murdered
activist Charlie Kirk.
According to sources close to the investigation, this
operation was presented internally as an effort to identify "domestic
extremist" networks that could pose threats to national security. However,
critics argue that the investigation was disproportionately used to scrutinize
groups linked to American conservatism, opening the door to accusations of
political persecution.
In addition to Turning Point USA, the operation reportedly
included student organizations, online forums, and local associations that
promote agendas close to the Republican right. Although no official details
have been released, it has emerged that the FBI collected financial data,
private communications, and records of public activities from its members.
Conservative leaders accuse the strategy of discrediting and
monitoring political opponents, rather than responding to real threats.
The alleged operation generated a wave of criticism among
Republican lawmakers, who called "Arctic Frost" an abuse of federal
power. Senator Josh Hawley declared that the investigation constitutes "a
clear example of how the national security apparatus was used as a political
tool against American citizens whose only 'crime' was to disagree with the
government."
For their part, FBI spokespersons have avoided providing
specific statements, reiterating only that "every investigative operation
is governed by legal criteria and internal protocols that seek to protect the
security of Americans."
