According to reports now coming to light, iCloud data may
not only be at risk, but will be at risk in the UK as Apple DISABLES ENCRYPTION
TOOL at the request of the government.
In response to a demand from the UK government for access to
encrypted data, Apple removed its advanced data protection tool, which
previously ensured that only the account holder could access items stored in
iCloud, such as photos and documents, according to The Guardian.
The company expressed its deep disappointment, noting that
this action EXPOSES USERS to increased risks from data breaches and privacy
intrusions, according to the report.
Likewise, this same report ensures that the deletion follows
a directive under the Investigatory Powers Act, which requires technology
companies to provide access to encrypted data to law enforcement agencies.
Despite the change, iMessage and FaceTime will retain their
end-to-end encryption, Apple reportedly said. The company also stated that it
would never create a backdoor in its products.
