Mexico's president is rejecting reports that President Joe
Biden is preparing to build miles of new wall along the two countries' border
amid unprecedented illegal immigration and drug smuggling.
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Friday he
doubted Biden was serious after his U.S. counterpart told reporters he had no
choice but to do so to comply with an era-era congressional spending bill.
Trump.
“It's pure publicity,” López Obrador said at a regular
morning news conference after the Biden administration announced it would build
additional sections of the border wall, carrying forward a signature policy of
the Trump administration, Reuters reported.
AMLO's comments came after a “high-ranking delegation of US
officials met on Thursday with their Mexican counterparts, including US
Secretary of State Antony Blinken,” Reuters said.
“They don't want to build more sections of the wall, that's
what they told us,” said López Obrador.CBrief
