Several federal agencies in the Biden administration were
hit Friday by a massive new lawsuit over a threat to withhold federal funds
because of a new union law that the White House disagrees with.
Florida officials filed a lawsuit against five Biden
administration officials, including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg,
three federal agencies and the U.S. government itself after threatening to
withhold grant money.
The lawsuit was filed against the Federal Transit
Administration, the Departments of Labor and Transportation and several
officials who oversee those agencies, the Western Journal reported.
The law, signed earlier this year by Gov. Ron DeSantis and
taking effect July 1, “facilitated the 'decertification' process for unions and
prohibits some state employers from collecting union dues by withholding them
from paychecks.” of the employees,” the media reported.
The Florida Public Employee Relations Commission, an entity
overseen by political appointees of the governor, according to Politico, has
the authority to grant waivers to the new law. The U.S. Department of Labor has
stated that certain federal grants will be withheld unless the commission
grants permanent waivers for new requirements affecting public transportation
