Fine in Arizona for schools that impose critical race theory

On Friday, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey (Republican) signed a law that will prohibit schools and state agencies from teaching critical race theory (CRT).

House Bill 2906, which Ducey signed for approval on Friday, July 9, prohibits “the state and any local government from requiring their employees to provide orientation, training or therapy suggesting that an employee is inherently racist. , sexist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously, ”he said in a statement.

"When I took office, I made a commitment to use taxpayer money responsibly, and funding political comment training is not a responsible expense," Ducey said. "I am not going to waste public dollars on lessons that imply the superiority of any race and hamper free speech."

This bill is in addition to HB 2898; a draft of anti-CRT legislation signed last week by the governor. This measure particularly imposes a fine of $ 5,000 if schools attempt to introduce to students the concepts that “one race, ethnic group, or sex is in some way superior to another, or that anyone should be discriminated against on the basis of these characteristics.
