British military mission in Afghanistan ends

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Thursday the withdrawal of all troops from his country from Afghanistan and the end of the United Kingdom's military mission on Afghan soil after 20 years of participation.

In a statement in the House of Commons (lower), Johnson assured that "all British troops assigned to the NATO mission in Afghanistan will now return home" and added that from now on the priority will be "to work with others partners to preserve the achievements of the last 20 years. "
