6.2-magnitude earthquake shakes eastern Japan, no tsunami warning



An earthquake of 6.2 on the Richter open scale shook eastern Japan today without authorities triggering the tsunami alert or reporting significant damage.

The quake was recorded at 04:47 local time on Thursday (19.47 GMT on Wednesday) about 30 kilometers deep off the coast of Chiba, northeast of Tokyo, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). EFE
