"Sisters who were missing for 36 years found alive in
Ventura, California, didn't even know they were missing.
Jasmin and Elizabeth Ramos' mother was stabbed to death in
Mohave County, Arizona, on Dec. 12, 1989.
The girls, just 2 months and 14 months old at the time, were
found days later in a park bathroom in Oxnard, California.
Authorities didn't connect the abandoned girls to the murder
of their mom, Marina Ramos, until recently, thanks to DNA samples.
"The girls were eventually adopted by a couple in
Ventura County and were raised together in a loving home," the Mohave
County Sheriff's Office said.
Jasmin and Elizabeth Ramos, who now go by Tina and Melissa,
reportedly kept newspaper clippings of their abandonment, which helped
investigators connect the dots.
The search for their mother's murderer continues."
