Green light to share taxpayer information with immigration to speed up deportations

A federal court will not halt the Trump administration's controversial plan to share highly sensitive taxpayer information with federal immigration officials to track unauthorized immigrants and promptly deport them.

U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich dismissed claims by multiple immigrant rights groups that the data-sharing agreement between the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) violated taxpayer confidentiality rules, CNN reported.

The ruling represents a victory for President Donald Trump's immigration policies. Trump administration officials asserted that greater collaboration between the IRS and ICE will protect Americans by removing potentially dangerous individuals who entered the country illegally.
