Rio de Janeiro separates its policies from Bolsonaro. Press to force injection

Rio de Janeiro will require from September a certificate of anticovid vaccination to access various public places, including tourist spots, the Mayor's Office reported this Friday, concerned about the advance of the delta variant in this city in southwestern Brazil.

The Rio de Janeiro authorities will ask for proof of immunization to be able to enter tourist places, gyms, stadiums, cinemas, theater, museums and conferences, among other public places.

"We are going to create difficulties for those who do not want to be vaccinated," said Mayor Eduardo Paes when announcing the measure at a press conference, which does not include bars, restaurants and shopping centers.
