First female governor of NY announces that she will impose her will harshly

Kathy Hochul became New York State's first female governor, and in her first hours in office she was trying to instill a new sense of urgency to address the huge issues neglected during Andrew Cuomo's final months as head of state executive.

For those who thought that the worst nightmare for the state is Cuomo, reality will show them that there are even worse cases, because the new governor has announced that she will enforce her will harshly, despite going against the will of the public.

In a speech, Hochul said that he would immediately order the mandatory use of masks in schools and that he would seek to impose a requirement that school personnel be vaccinated against COVID-19 or take weekly diagnostic tests. He noted that the state would launch a back-to-school medical screening program.

"None of us want a repeat of the horrors of last year with COVID-19," said Hochul. "Therefore, we will take proactive steps to prevent that from happening."
