Florida Governor asks for help for the Cuban people to access the Internet

ST. PETERSBURG - Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and other officials on Thursday called on the White House to support efforts to maintain internet service to anti-government protesters in Cuba, including by using balloons as floating Wi-Fi hotspots. to allow the continuous transmission of images of dissent from the Caribbean nation.

Cuban authorities blocked social networking sites to prevent information from reaching, leaving or circulating within the island after thousands of Cubans began taking to the streets last weekend to protest limited access to vaccines against COVID-19 and basic items. The island is experiencing its worst economic crisis in decades.
