According to a CBS News / YouGov poll released Sunday, April
25, the majority of black Americans support their local police, with 70 percent
saying they do a fairly or excellent job.
The survey was conducted between April 21 and 24, 2021, with
a sample of 2,527 residents of the United States and a margin of error of +/-
2.3 points.
Gender, race, political affiliation, whether a person
supported President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump, political
party, race / ethnicity and, in the case of whites, level of education were
factors that were taken into account in the survey.
71% of Liberals rated their local police more positively,
compared to 29%. Among the moderates, the numbers were 80 to 20, and the
conservatives, 89 to 11. 76% of Biden supporters supported their local police,
while 89% of Trump supporters approved of their local police . Overall, the
figures ranged from 79 percent to 21 percent.
